How does Bancontact work?

Bancontact payments are made just like credit cards, using the card number and expiration date, but at the same time, they utilize the web banking security system.
The first phase is the same as with a credit card: entering data and card number (this number is on the latest generation of cards).
In a second phase, the cardholder must identify himself in a secure screen of his own bank, as is also done with internet banking.
